Zeeland, MI (PRWEB) April 4, 2010 -- Zeeland Lumber Holdings LLC, a fourth-generation, family-owned business founded in Zeeland, Michigan in 1947, has earned FSC Certification for its Zeeland headquarters location.

Forest Stewardship Council, or FSC, is an independent, non-profit organization that has established a certification system to promote the responsible management of the world's forests. Chain of Custody certification provides the assurance that Zeeland is maintaining a control system that tracks the material it sources from the forest to the end consumer, through all stages of processing, transformation, and final distribution.

Zeeland Lumber and Supply Co. has become a major construction material supplier for new home construction, home remodeling, improvement and commercial development. Today, in addition to our on-site showroom in Zeeland, we operate four Concept Showrooms including one in Grand Rapids, Hamilton, Kalamazoo and Mishawaka, IN with hundreds of products on display for the home from kitchen and bath cabinets to flooring and trim to roofing, siding, windows and entryway doors.

The FSC Certification process requires system-wide changes, including isolating the certified products, using special labels and diligently maintaining the chain of custody for each piece of wood that they purchase and sell.

To qualify for FSC Certification, Zeeland Lumber Company was independently verified by Scientific Certification Systems, an FSC-accredited certification company. SCS examined Zeeland’s record-keeping and systems, certifying Zeeland to work within the FSC system and label its products with the FSC logo.
